Making of a historical styled typography in photoshop
I have used this tutorial to demonstrate, how to make a historical styled typography in 9 simple steps.
Result Preview:

Materials need:
Any picture similar to the below image that i have used.
“Dirt” texture which is available in default photoshop textures.
“Rock wall” texture which is also available in default photoshop textures.
Old styled font (find here)
Floral brushes of your choice.
Step 1:
Open a new document of size 1600 x 1200 with transparent background.
Step 2:
Find on the internet, a dark colored wallpaper preferably a nature based theme similar to the one that I have used in this tutorial. If you want to use the picture that I have used in the tutorial, just download the tutorial source file and get it.

Step 3:
In a new layer, insert the background image just we downloaded and duplicate the layer and name it as “Background”.
Step 4:
Apply gaussian blur to this layer by giving 30px as radius. So you will get like this,

Step 5:
Create a new layer over “Background” layer and call it as “texture”. Apply dirt texture to the layer and change the layer’s blending mode to Multiply.

Step 6:
Create another layer called “mixer” and apply Rock wall texture. Change the layer’s blending mode to Overlay and set the opacity to 59%.

Step 7:
Now type some text with the font style that you have downloaded. I have used to type TUTORIALSTAG with font size 250px.

Change the text layer’s Fill opacity to ’0′ and apply the following styles to the text.
Gradient overlay:
Colors: #ecdddd and #ffffff
Style: Linear
Blend mode: Overlay

Stroke:
Color: #343434
Size: 1px
Position: outside
Blend mode: Color dodge
Drop shadow:
Color: #000000
Opacity: 65%
Angle: 129
Distance: 4px
Spread: 10%
Size: 7px
Contour: Linear
Blend mode: Multiply

You will then get something like below

Step 8:
In a new layer called “floral”, draw some floral designs of your choice around the corners of the document. Apply the same text styles that applied for the text layer to the floral layer also.
Point to text layer -> Right click -> Copy Layer Style
Point to floral layer -> Right click -> Paste Layer Style

Step 9:
This is an optional step if you want a dark theme for your output.
Create a new Fill layer with Gradient fill. Here are the settings for the fill,
Gradient fill:
Colors: #cb9b35 in location 0%, #ffffff in location 49% and #d99f00 in location 73%
Style: Linear
Angle: 90
Scale: 150%

Now by turning the fill layer’s blend mode to Linear Burn we will have the result as shown below.
Final Result:
